Shoulder Reconstruction

Shoulder Reconstruction

All musculoskeletal injuries present a diagnostic challenge. Perhaps none more so than injuries to the shoulder. With its tremendous range of motion, the shoulder has a high propensity for a variety of injuries. Each decade of life can bring a unique subset of injuries to this highly specific and functional joint. Each sport or work-related activity can bring its own unique set of injuries as well.

The functional anatomy of the shoulder is complex. Injuries can occur in isolation or to multiple structures. Damage to one structure over time will lead to failure or injury to other structures. Further complicating the issue is whether the injury is traumatic or repetitive. Athletes are not alone when it comes to shoulder injuries. Many of our patients come from the work force and have sustained their own unique type of injury from repetition or direct trauma. Additionally, the elderly patient is susceptible to falls with fractures involving the bones of the shoulder.

In order to successfully treat these injuries your orthopedic surgeon has to have a fundamental understanding of the complex anatomy associated with the shoulder joint.

A SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME IS DEPENDENT UPON A SUCCESSFUL OPERATION. At Dayton Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine, our team is well versed in the complexities and injury patterns associated with this highly diverse and complex joint. In addition to conservative and nonsurgical treatment focusing on interventional and nonsurgical rehabilitation, we specialized in the following procedures:

Happy Patients

“Listened & understood my needs before surgery. The surgery went very well, and was just as he explained. Post surgery recovery time was much less than expected. Absolutely no pain, very minimal discomfort, and was back doing my normal routine with only slight modification within 2 months. I am very, very happy with Dr. Paley & his staff.”

After another Doctor screwed my knee up and told me it was all in my head I went to Dr. Paley he has done two surgeries to correct the first one and is by far the best and most caring Doctor I have seen. His whole office staff are wonderful people that are always happy to be there and his Physicians Assistants actually know what they are doing.
